BIR registration, step by step

Every new business in the Philippines must register with the Bureau of Internal Revenue. Here is what that actually involves.

BIR registration is the legal step that makes your business real: it gives you a taxpayer identification, registers your business name with the tax authority, and puts you in the system that issues and tracks your receipts and taxes.

The process involves several connected pieces: the registration processing itself, the registration fee, documentary stamps, certification, and your books of accounts — the records the BIR requires every business to keep. Supporting documents must be notarised, and your official receipts or service invoices must be printed through an accredited printer.

For a typical small consultancy, the full registration — including books, notary and printed invoices — comes to roughly PHP 19,700. That is what GEOLINK paid to register itself in July 2026, and it is the same end-to-end process we run for clients.
